Host of Yoga Related Events Slated For June

The first-look posters for the Yoga Fest 2016 and International Day of Yoga celebrations to be held in June were released at the Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth:

As per the guidelines issued by the UGC and Ministry of AYUSH, International Day of Yoga 2016 will be celebrated at SBV over three days from June 19 with various events.

The first-look posters for the Yoga Fest 2016 and International Day of Yoga celebrations to be held in June were released at the Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth:

S.V. Iyer, president, Pondicherry Senior Citizens Welfare Association, appreciated the efforts of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth in extending yoga therapy services for the senior citizens of the city.




A public awareness programme will be held on June 19 for senior citizens of Pondicherry in Association with Help Age India and Pondicherry Senior Citizens Welfare Association. Common yoga protocol demonstrations and yogasana competitions will be conducted in coordination with the Pondicherry Yogasana Association on June 20 while a national seminar on ‘Introducing Yoga in Health Professions Education’ will be held on June 21 with eminent experts participating from all over the country.

The Common Yoga Protocol for 2016 has also been finalised by AYUSH, which is the nodal agency to coordinate various activities for the celebration of International Yoga Day, in consultation with leading yoga experts of India and is to be performed on June 21 all over India.

Deputy Director of CYTER Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani is one of the experts on the national committee for coordinating the festival and CYTER has arranged for training to be given in this Common Yoga Protocol for interested faculty, staff and students.

The Fest will be celebrated on May 25 and 26 to create awareness of yoga among the university fraternity community and special lectures/lec-dems on Yoga as well as essay writing, poster making and cultural events are also proposed.

Following the decision of the United Nations on December 11, 2014 with the support of 177 nations, the the first International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21, 2015.
